William Tholl

Mr. William Tholl currently serves as Executive Director, Canadian Health Leadership Network, an organization committed to doing a better job of identifying, developing, supporting and celebrating excellence in health leadership. Bill also has part time appointments as “Executive in Residence” at Royal Roads University; as “Senior Research Fellow” with the Canadian Policy Research Network; and as an occasional lecturer in health policy and economics at the University of Ottawa. 

His working life has been dedicated to the advancing public policy in health and health care in Canada and abroad. He is widely known as “Medicare’s Mr. Fix-it”, having played an instrumental role in many of Canada’s major health policy initiatives over the past thirty years. 

He served as Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Medical Association (2001-2008) and Executive Director, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (1995-2001).
