Centennial Open House
Saturday May 8, 2010
It will be a day for the community, clients and their families to visit the Royal, meet the staff, learn more about our programs, our services and the ways we can help whether it’s patient care or breaking down the stigma associated with mental illness.
Activities will include free public lectures, tours of the facilities, information kiosks by our Program staff and community partners, and an official ceremony marking the centennial.
Two years ago, the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group proudly opened the doors to the ROMHC, one of Canada’s newest state-of-the-art mental health care and research facilities and a centre of excellence. Sanatorium style buildings that had stood for 98 years came down to make way for the new Health Centre. The removal of the old bricks reflected an even more fundamental change in the perception of mental illness, from shame and fear to understanding and hope. Come visit us and learn more.
